As a photographer in the South Bay, my gear is essential to capturing the perfect shot. Let me take you behind the scenes and show you what's in my photography bag for your session with me.
First up, along with my camera body, my workhorse lens that pretty much lives on my camera body —the 24-70mm f/2.8 lens. This versatile lens is my go-to for most shoots. I love it because I can zoom in for details or zoom back for the big environment look. Whether I’m shooting portraits or landscapes, it’s perfect for almost any situation. It’s one of the most reliable pieces of gear in my bag and the lens I always have with me.
If I have a portrait session, I also looooove my 85mm f1.4 lens. As a portrait photographer, this one maybe should be my favorite, but i just can't give up that zoom! The 85 is great because of the low aperture and super creamy background, so it's really amazing for those portraits and headshots.
Next, I also pack extra batteries and a couple of memory cards just in case I need more power or storage during long sessions. I often bring a reflector to bounce light and soften harsh shadows.
Lastly, I have my little crystals that I pull out sometimes to add flares and colors, usually to my landscape images.
Now I can't guarantee it, but i often have bobby pins, safety pins, snacks, some cash, or other odds and ends in my bag that might help in the middle of a session. You just never know what might come up.
With these essentials in my bag, I’m always ready to capture the perfect moment!
